The Leeside
I'll be away from the screen for the next couple weeks, but I won't be far from home. As someone working seven days a week year 'round, a two-week vacation comes as quite a relief, even if there's no epic journey. My daily journal will continue uninterrupted, of course, just as it has for eighteen years. But not posting for a while pulls a plug in the gentlest sense — wicks away the rush to get out and go. It brings back the randomness of a younger me, who was aimless and driven at once, like a train without a track. Out back of the St. Albans cemetery seemed fitting for a brief farewell. Two concrete posts for a gate long gone, holding up a fence non-existent. Just walk straight through and imagine whatever possibilities you'd like on the leeside. Set ashore and sheltered from the need to be anywhere or do anything in particular. You can catch my drift when I'm back.
