Intrusive Light
In most cases, you never do discover what stops a home from being loved. But this one has had some effort to keep the past on pause. Boarded windows and new shingles to keep out leaks, so maybe that means it’s coming back to life. Waking up from a long wait. Bright sun bleaches bare wood white, paint stripped by wind and salt spray waves. There’s a powerful vibrancy in the dullness of late winter, faded yellow grasses and painful blue skies. I feel like I’ve been somehow shaken, to open my eyes a little wider while the intrusive light invades. Don’t you know you’ve had enough of darkness now? That’s not to promise there’s not more coming. Watch yourself for expectations, hold back gently your demands on time. Change comes easier when you walk backwards to the wind.
